Dr Katherine Ferdenzi

I am registered to practice as a Clinical Psychologist with the HCPC (Health Care Professionals Council). I am also Chartered and registered as an Associate Fellow with the BPS ( British Psychological Society) and am a member of the Division of Clinical Psychology and the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychology and the Division of Perinatal Psychology.

I have a specialist interest and skills in working with children, young people and their families; working with adoptive or fostering families; offering therapy to adults, and also in working with pregnant or postnatal women.  I have 15 years of experience working in the NHS and the Channel Islands health care settings.

My qualifications include:

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (D.Clin.Psychol.) from Salomons, University College Christchurch, Canterbury, 2002).
  • BSc (hons) in Applied Psychology, 1st Class, from Liverpool John Moores University, 1995.
  • Certified Parenting Leader: The Incredible Years Parent Training Series, 2013.
  • Registered Interpersonal Psychotherapy Practitioner, 2013.

I established a private practice as a Clinical Psychologist in 2013 after leaving Guernsey where I had worked as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) since 2010. Before this I worked in Barnet, North London as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in Perinatal, Adult and CAMH services. Previous to this, I was employed as a Community Clinical Psychologist in Camden, London, working in SureStart settings and GP Surgeries. Before working clinically, I was a Research Psychologist at the University of London.

I am experienced in the psychological assessment and treatment of children, young people and adults. I am skilled in recognising and treating a range of mental health problems, developmental concerns, school-based difficulties, adoption and fostering issues, perinatal mental health problems and parent-infant bonding difficulties, and mental well-being in adulthood and across the lifespan. I have considerable expertise and skills in working with parenting issues and child behaviour problems.

I am trained and experienced in providing a range of evidence based treatments for psychological problems: cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, behavioural and attachment based parenting interventions, systemic and brief psychotherapeutic approaches. I have provided Expert Witness opinion to Court regarding care proceedings and parenting assessments.
